Profiling Ben Fett

Rushden born and bred Estimator and Designer Ben Fett joined Scotts Timber Engineering 4 years ago, originally working in the Thrapston factory building trusses and panels. He was encouraged to apply for a trainee design role and moved up into the design office in the summer of 2022.

Ben’s first part-time job while at college, working at Nando’s, came to an abrupt end when the pandemic hit and the restaurant closed, but he took a warehouse role to fill his days before joining Scotts.

When asked about his estimating and design role, he explains: “The challenges we face keeping everyone happy and meeting their requirements require focus, which I enjoy; and I like the team I work with at Scotts, which feels like a friendly and relaxed environment.” He continued: “The best part of the role is talking to new people every day, forming the connections that build relationships”.

Outside work, Ben’s focus is very much on sport. He plays rugby for Olney and enjoys the pub with friends and family, relaxing by watching all sports. He also likes to travel, this photo was taken at a restaurant in the Burj Khalifa, Dubai.
