Introducing Macauley Morton

It is the people that make a business, and today’s post introduces Macauley Morton, who recently joined our Design team.

Based at our Thrapston offices, Macauley’s first introduction to the world of technical design was on work experience in the Town Planning Department at South Cambs District Council, which sparked his decision to take a Construction and Built Environment Course at college.

After six years in his first timber-based design role with a competitor, Macauley wanted to see what else was out there in the truss world, looking for new challenges.

“Visiting and speaking with the Scotts team, I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of what they are building here within the timber engineering and put my knowledge/experience into use,” he explained: “The opportunity at Scotts was the perfect match for the next stage in my career journey.”

Macauley is, by his own admission, not scared of a challenge, and is a bit of a lover of designing the more “complex” roofs like big, detached attic truss houses that need a bit more thought putting into figuring out how the roof will come together.

Of the move to Scotts, he commented: “I’d say what I like most is how Scotts is still a local family run business and everyone has been very welcoming since I have joined.”

Outside of work, he often spend most of his spare time with family and friends and days out or socialising over a beer or two! Cricket season is over but during the “warmer” months of May-August, he spends Friday evenings playing local cricket for Hemingford with his younger brother and Dad. A love of sport runs in the family; as an avid Burnley supporter, when opportunities arise, Macauley will often travel to games with his Dad and brothers.
