Scotts Timber Engineering has bolstered its team with the appointment of new senior estimator and designer, Lawrence Raven.
Lawrence joins Scotts from David Smith St Ives, where he spent 17 years working initially as a truss designer and then as estimating manager.
Based at Scotts Timber Engineering’s head office in Thrapston, Lawrence is responsible for the design and delivery of timber roof trusses, spandrel panels and metal web joists to the highest standard for major housebuilding clients across the UK.
“Scotts is a unique and interesting place. I love the fact the company is still family-run, but is extremely progressive and ambitious at the same time,” he says.
“I was looking for a new challenge and joining Scotts is exactly what I needed. I’ve already learned so much from the team and love the vibrant energy in the office.”
With almost two decades’ timber engineering experience under his belt, Lawrence has hit the ground running, getting involved with a variety of upcoming and live projects.
“I’m currently working with some national housebuilders on some great sites that are due to start taking shape in Northamptonshire very soon. I’ve also been involved with some more bespoke projects in Horsham where the trusses have landed on-site within the last few weeks,” he says.
Lawrence’s aim is to make sure projects run as smoothly as possible and are delivered to the highest standard. On a day-to-day basis, his work includes producing preliminary designs and full drawings and providing quotations and technical support during the installation process. He’s also responsible for fellow team member and junior estimator, Ben Fett, who has recently joined the design team from his previous role in Scotts’ factory as a roof truss production operative.
James Scott, managing director at Scotts Timber Engineering, said: “Lawrence has already delivered some exceptional projects and it’s great to have such an experienced pair of hands come on board. We pride ourselves on providing our clients with industry-leading levels of customer service which we couldn’t achieve without our extremely talented team.
“Lawrence joins us at a very exciting time, as we continue to expand the business and play our part in achieving lower carbon homebuilding through the use of sustainable timber engineering.”
